Fortran (me para FORTRAN) eshte nje gjuhe programimi per kompjutera me synim te pergjithshem (ang., general-purpose programming language) qe eshte e perdorur ne shumicen e rasteve ne analizimin e numrave dhe ne llogaritjet shkencore. I zhvilluar fillimisht nga IBM ne vitet 1950 per zbatime shkencore dhe inxhinierie, Fortrani arriti te mbizoteroj ne kete fushe programimi shume shpejte dhe vazhdua te perdorej per me shume se gjysme shekulli ne fusha te elaborimit intensiv si modelimi klimatik (ang. climate modeling computational fluid dynamics (CFD)), fizikes kompjuterike dhe kimia kompjuterike.
