Organization: Archive Team
Formed in 2009, the Archive Team (not to be confused with the archive.org Archive-It Team) is a rogue archivist collective dedicated to saving copies of rapidly dying or deleted websites for the sake of history and digital heritage. The group is 100% composed of volunteers and interested parties, and has expanded into a large amount of related projects for saving online and digital history.

History is littered with hundreds of conflicts over the future of a community, group, location or business that were "resolved" when one of the parties stepped ahead and destroyed what was there. With the original point of contention destroyed, the debates would fall to the wayside. Archive Team believes that by duplicated condemned data, the conversation and debate can continue, as well as the richness and insight gained by keeping the materials. Our projects have ranged in size from a single volunteer downloading the data to a small-but-critical site, to over 100 volunteers stepping forward to acquire terabytes of user-created data to save for future generations.

The main site for Archive Team is at archiveteam.org and contains up to the date information on various projects, manifestos, plans and walkthroughs.

This collection contains the output of many Archive Team projects, both ongoing and completed. Thanks to the generous providing of disk space by the Internet Archive, multi-terabyte datasets can be made available, as well as in use by the Wayback Machine, providing a path back to lost websites and work.

Our collection has grown to the point of having sub-collections for the type of data we acquire. If you are seeking to browse the contents of these collections, the Wayback Machine is the best first stop. Otherwise, you are free to dig into the stacks to see what you may find.

The Archive Team Panic Downloads are full pulldowns of currently extant websites, meant to serve as emergency backups for needed sites that are in danger of closing, or which will be missed dearly if suddenly lost due to hard drive crashes or server failures.

Before You Arrive - Visa & ARC

ROC United ID Number

For those without ARC but need to open a bank account, declare income taxes return, or apply for a driver's license, one has to have a ROC ID number.
If applicants possessed a residence permit or have applied for this number before, please inform the coordinator of the National Immigration Agency.

Required documents:
  • An application form
  • The original and one photocopy of the passport, including visa.

Application fee: free
Processing time: about an hour

Visitor Visa Extension

The applicant can apply for an extension within 15 days prior to the expiration of a visitor visa.
Please check the National Immigration Agency website to find out more information.

Restrictions:
(a) The duration of each such extension shall not be longer than that of the original visa.
(b) The holder of a visitor visa may not exceed staying six months of aggregate time in the country.
(c) It shall be extended only twice and the period of extension shall not be longer than 60 days.

Required documents:
  • An application form.
  • The original and one photocopy of the passport with the visitor visa.
  • In accordance with the specific situation, the following documents may be required:
    (a) Chinese language training certificate:
    - An enrollment certificate or class schedule from an approved public or private language center or university.
    - Attendance record (except the first extension)
    (b) Other: an approval letter from an authorized government agency.

Change Visitor Visa to Resident Visa

Should an alien with Visitor Visa stay in Taiwan for more than 180 days, he/she shall exchange his/her Visitor Visa with Resident Visa at the Bureau of Consular Affairs, MOFA. After obtaining the Resident Visa, he/she needs to apply for ARC at the National Immigration Agency within 15 days.

Resident Visa

An Alien who enters the country on resident visa or on exchangeable visa shall apply for an "Alien Resident Certificate (ARC)" and the re-entry permit at the Taichung City Branch, National Immigration Agency, MOI within 15 days from the next day of the arrival date. The permitted duration is based on the date indicated on the ARC.


Alien Resident Certificate (ARC)

Each alien who intends to reside for more than 180 days shall apply for an Alien Resident Certificate at the Bureau of Consular Affairs, MOFA.

Required documents:
  • An application form.
  • A two-inch half-length photo with cap off within one year. The photo shall be a color glossy photo with white background without headgear or sunglasses.
  • Passport and a photocopy of the passport, including the resident visa.
  • Original and photocopy of the supporting documents for the reasons of application of the resident visa: Employees must attach the approval letter of the authority in charge of the business concerned and the certificate of employment issued within a month.

Application fee: NT$1,000 (one year) / NT$2,000 (two years)
Processing time: 10 workdays

Taiwan Entry Permit

Hong Kong, Macau or Chinese Residents shall hold a vlid Taiwan Entry Permit to enter Taiwan.
