Differences in scores for John Sinclair Fernie

[edit]

There is a difference in the scores as given in "The Majors of Golf" (https://books.google.co.uk/books?id=JAtHsOzOCoUC&printsec=frontcover&hl=en#v=onepage&q=1922&f=false) and the official site https://www.theopen.com/Heritage/PreviousOpens#!/1922/Royal%20St%20George%E2%80%99s It relates to John Sinclair Fernie. The Majors of Golf has his scores as 81-80-80-79=320 T43 while the official site has 81-88-80-79=328 T61. This has the effect that those between 46th and 61st have uncertainty about their position too. eg Ted Ray is T46 or T47 depending on which you use.

As to contemporary sources, both The Times and The Glasgow Herald have the 2nd round as 88 on both days it is mentioned. Could be some confusion with Tom Fernie who did have a second round 80, scoring 81-80-81-82=324 T53/T54. I'm inclined to believe the official version. Nigej (talk) 16:33, 3 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
