The LPGA Foundation, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization dedicated to empowering and supporting girls and women through developmental and humanitarian golf initiatives, has announced Susan Pikitch as the new Chair of the LPGA Foundation Board of Directors.

The organisation, created to invest in and create opportunities for the PGA Tour, will include the legendary golfer and the bosses of the Boston Red Sox and Atlanta Falcons. There are also a number of more active players on the board.

The 15-time major winner, who returned to competition last month at the age of 48 after undergoing ankle surgery last year, has been awarded the United States Golf Association's highest honour. Woods will receive the award at a ceremony at Pinehurst during the US Open in June.
