World Boxing 'welcomes' CAS decision to withdraw recognition from IBA

World Boxing has positioned itself as 'the international federation', following the High Court's decision to dismiss the IBA's appeal against its expulsion. It urges all national federations 'to join and support World Boxing'.


IBA to carefully review CAS decision before considering appeal

The International Boxing Association (IBA) disagrees with the arguments used by CAS to dismiss its appeal against the IOC, including "not having a coherent roadmap for the IBA to follow or a direct channel to communicate." Meanwhile, the IOC has announced that it "needs to partner with the International Boxing Federation by early 2025."


CAS rejects IBA appeal and upholds IOC ban

CAS upholds the IOC's decision of 22 June 2023 to withdraw recognition from the IBA, which the organisation appealed against on 27 June 2023. According to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, after hearing both parties in November, "the IBA did not meet the conditions set by the IOC for recognition".
