The ticketing row which overshadowed the Port Moresby 2015 Closing Ceremony, leaving hundreds of spectators outside the Sir John Guise Stadium, was caused by a fans without tickets trying to gain access, as well as a larger number of VIPs turning up for the event than anticipated it has been claimed.

Pacific Games Council (PGC) executive director Andrew Minogue has hailed the participation of Australia and New Zealand at at the 15th edition of the event, which finished here yesterday.

The curtain came down on Port Moresby 2015 here this evening with a festival-style Closing Ceremony that provided a party ending to the 15th Pacific Games, although several hundred people were unable to gain access to the the Sir John Guise Stadium because of problems with tickets.

Papua New Guinea finished top of the Pacific Games medals table for only the second time in the their history as their athletes produced another excellent performance here on the final day of competition at Port Moresby 2015.
