First Assassin's Creed 3 screenshots appear online
New hero shown off in a variety of locations
Four Assassin's Creed 3 screens have leaked ahead of the game's official reveal on Monday.
US mag Game Informer has said of the game: "Set in the latter half of the 18th century, we'll see the war between the Templars and the Assassins escalate as it crosses over to the New World of America, and witness firsthand the events of the American Revolution."
"Ever since the conclusion of Assassin's Creed II, a senior team of Ubisoft developers has been secretly toiling away on what comes next. That team aimed high, with plans to examine and rethink every element of the franchise from the ground up, build something new, and take a full three year development cycle to do it"
Ubisoft has said the series' switch to the 18th century conflict will mark its 'biggest instalment yet'.

Looks like lead character is native Indian.... sweet
EDIT: native American, red Indian. You know what I mean!

Is he hunting a deer there? Oh 'deer'... I hope there's not some MGS-style psyche gauge you have to keep full, not sure I'd like that.
Nevertheless, the screenshots looks gorgeous, can't wait to see more.

Starting to look like a cross between AC and Red Dead Redemption and that's a good thing in my books.
I swear the parts of his costume that are blue were red in the first pics. Makes sense obviously as he's fighting with the yanks.

Looks like the parkour will be taking place outside the cities at least a little bit Last of the Moheicans stylee!
I really (really really really) hope they don't go by that dumbass lowball lowest common denominator route of pitching the British/redcoats as unilaterally templars/evil, and the continental congress as messianic paragons of virtue. We all know this was far less clear cut than that.
I'd like to think most American gamers whop've graduated past the intellectual level of a CoD spod would also know this...
Still, looking forward to my gadgets created by Benjamin Franklin (who was pro-Brit up until the aftermath of the Seven Years/French & Indian War when we shat all over him personally).
I have a lot of faith in the series for not taking the obvious route though. And all that high and mighty pre-game spiel about the creators being of all creeds (LOL) and colours has largely rung true with AC1 not taking sides between the Anglo-French Christians and the Moorish Muslims (Altair himself is mixed race FFS!) and AC2 trying to show that the power corrupts, not the nation or strictly speaking the religion...

Would be nice to see AC3 being about the revolution wresting templar control from the Brits, only for the USA to fall prey to their corruption itself more so than ever over the ensuing 200 years... (and 200 AC3 tier instalments before AC4 ) Perhaps a personal journey alongside George Washington seeing the assassins influence rise and fall.

What is it with the influx of these folk lately?? ..anyhow everyone practically knew it was going to be a pretty title, as its been in development for a number of years already. But 5 screenshots are not going to change my feelings toward the setting of this game. October is a few month away, I will hold off on deciding this is going to be amazing on a few screenshots, when more media is en route.

This game looks a bit more open-world than the previous games, which of course is a good thing.
JuiKuen on 2 Mar '12 said:
You're right. It doesn't

I'm with KM. There was never a doubt that it'd be pretty and they'd do their best, but it's just not AC for me. So far, it looks like Matt Damon in Red Dead Skyrim. Which isn't my idea of AC.
Fr33Kye on 2 Mar '12 said:
What the f**k does matt damon have to do with any of this? Is matt damon native american? Why does it have to play the same as all the other AC's? If assassin's creed is about being an assassin in history then shouldn't an assassin's tactics/techniques/styles/tools change with their setting? And isn't desmond supposed to learn that from each assassin to be a more well rounded one himself? If the setting changes, the gameplay should change a bit as well, which means locations shouldn't be restricted to ones that allow for the exact same gameplay.
RandyChimp on 2 Mar '12 said:
No, he's right, a lot of people were slagging off the location choice without even waiting for details. Baffleing, as this looks amazing and the details that have just emerged are exciting to hear.

Why is Ezio in Fable 2? Is this a mod?

Fr33 the Matt Damon thing was referring to what you can see of his face. Don't get so f**king serious about my view man, it's not worth it, you have your view, I have mine. It won't hurt you if I don't play it. I can be a cynical bastard at times, but normally with good reason. I find it nicer to start with a low opinion of something and be pleasantly surprised than buy into all the hype and then be let down, which is too common these days.
My first impressions are mixed. I can see how it could be a great game and from reading this, I genuinely love some of the ideas, but it doesn't help the fact that I still can't imagine it as an AC game. Yes he's meant to be learning but this is a direction nobody expected them to go in with good reason. Personally I just don't feel this was the point in the series to jump stateside. That's just me
RandyChimp on 2 Mar '12 said:
I'm not arguing with you, since its your opinion, but what point would you expect it to jump stateside? The end of Revelations showed that they need to go to the US. We also need to see how the piece of eden that's in the US got there, assuming Conner (new assassin) put it there.
Personally, this sounds so intruiging. I love the idea of climbing trees and cliffs to gain a decent vantage point to overlook an assassination. It's taking a step in the right direction with me, and the more I look at what they've done, the more exciting it becomes to consider the prospect of running around colonial america with two nations, one that pretty much rules the world at that point and one that has just arisen, fighting it out around you.
Imaduck on 2 Mar '12 said:
I just feel they needed to explore more of the traditional assasin routes that fans had been clamouring for before going to a stage in history where stealth etc. was kind of dying out.

No, he isn't right. He thinks it looks interesting. That doesn't make it fact.
Fr33Kye on 2 Mar '12 said:
I actually didnt mean to sound so serious, but tone is very difficult to convey in text. I say f**k all the time and rarely mean it in a hostile manner.
You dont have to like it, anytime something tries something different are changes, some may like it, some wont. That doesn't mean that the series is somehow dead or that it's not AC. It's just different from what you want in an AC game. You may prefer a different style of assassinations and a different setting.
Imaduck on 2 Mar '12 said:
Indeedy, I read you all wrong. I'll just leave it at "I'm cautious about this" and shut up. Sorreh.

Yes he is right, those idiots didnt wait for screens of the game, they heard the location and made assumptions about the game itself.
